About the role
The Staff Selection Commission conducts the Combined Graduate Level examination to recruit Assistant Section Officers into central government ministries and departments. It is one of the most sought-after entry routes into a Group B post, and the work involves file handling, noting and drafting, and supporting senior officers on policy implementation.

Pay and benefits
Assistant Section Officer is a Pay Level 7 post with an entry basic pay of ₹44,900. With Dearness Allowance at 60 percent and X-class city allowances, gross comes to roughly ₹91,070 a month, and about ₹83,236 in hand after NPS and CGHS deductions.

Selection process
